Explore Lamington National Park

Posted in Location & Attractions @ Jun 26th 2012 10:03am - By Administrator

During your getaway, take a break from the golden sands and sparkling surf of Mermaid Beach and head to beautiful Lamington National Park, around 90 minutes drive from Foreshore Mermaid Beach apartments.

The World Heritage Listed nature reserve protects one of the largest areas of rainforest in the world, encompassing approximately 20, 590 hectares of lush temperate rainforest, open eucalypt forest, cascading waterfalls and mountains.

Pack a picnic and head into the park for the day to explore meandering hiking tracks and boardwalks through ancient towering Antarctic beech trees, past some of the most breathtaking areas of natural beauty in Queensland. As you explore, listen out for the unforgettable song of the Albert’s lyre bird, which expertly mimics the sound of human voices, and look to the trees for glimpses of crimson rosellas and Australian king-parrots. If you’re quiet you might also spot shy bush tail possums, koalas and red necked pademelons hunting for food in the picnic areas. Binoculars are a must!
