The Festival of Film, Music and Dance (FOFMAD) is a tribute to the ever-changing film industry on the Gold Coast. It is both a commemoration of brilliant local filmmakers and a celebration of music and dance that pays homage to the most important films of all time.
FOFMAD highlights the fantastic Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra and Eisteddfod grade school bands playing theme songs from favourite films. To enhance the cinematic experience, local dance groups will show routines that call to mind favourite dance movies.
With film at its core, the event hosts two short film festivals alongside the Gold Coast Film Festival.
SIPFest, our very own Shorts in Paradise Festival, will treat audiences with magical cinematic masterpieces created by filmmakers from around the country and several international entrants. Industry experts will judge the films. Winners will win $8000 in prize money across eight categories. The categories being Best Film, Best Film Showcasing Surfers Paradise and Best Actor (male and female). Entries are now open.
Eight amazing filmmaking teams have been awarded $10,000 each to make a short film that questions our ideas about ageing.
The weekend culminates with a screening of the feature films along with a dance or Australian connection at the giant outdoor cinema on Surfers Paradise beach. Bring a warm blanket and enjoy the movies with your loved ones. Celebrate over two great days and nights out. Enjoy all things film.
